Step-by-Step Guide to Using Opus Clip

Social media now is constantly spinning TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, and other short-form videos. While it is necessary to keep up with the times, the problem is… creating these snippets can be time-consuming. 

Opus Clip is here to change all that. This AI can simplify the process, turning your lengthy videos into high-quality, engaging shorts ready for social media success. Here’s how to use it.

Step 1: Sign In or Register

Head over to the OpusClip website (link at bottom of this tutorial) and either sign in to your account or register if you're a new user. They’re offering a free trial so no need to worry about making an immediate payment.

Step 2: Upload Your Video

Once logged in, you'll have the option to upload your long video. This can be a talk, seminar, tutorial, or any content you wish to repurpose. You can either upload from your device, through a YouTube link, or a Google Drive link.

Step 3: Let the AI Work Its Magic

When ready, click “Get clips in 1click” and let the AI do its magic. Opus Clip uses generative AI to analyze your video and identify the most compelling parts. It then extracts these highlights and rearranges them into cohesive short videos. 

Take note the process may take some time depending on the video you uploaded.

Some keywords you should know: 

• Processing timeframe:  Choose a timeframe in your video where the clips will be extracted. 

• Preferred clip length: The duration of the clips. Choose how long you want your videos to be.

• Topic filter by keywords: Choose a topic for the AI to focus on. It can be anything from life goals to money tips. 

Step 4: Review and Edit

After the AI processes your video, you'll be presented with several short clips. Review them, and if necessary, use the AI Co-Pilot feature to select specific timeframes or keywords to refine the clips further.

The top option with the highest score indicates which clip the AI thinks would be most impactful. It’s worth reading the note provided by Opus, located on the side, to know what the clip features, what makes it stand out for viewers, and offers recommendations.

Step 5: Download and Share

Once satisfied, download the clips and share them on your preferred social media platforms. It’s that easy!
